A van driver had to be cut from his vehicle today after a tree fell onto it during high winds.
It happened at Ballacraine on Peel Road just after 7.30am.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free him after damage was caused to the offside door - he was treated at the scene for a minor hand injury.
The passenger of the vehicle, which was moving at the time it was hit, escaped uninjured and managed to free himself.
The fallen tree also damaged overhead power cables which led to a loss of power to traffic lights and houses in the local area.
