Drone investigation suggests radio interference at work

A UK investigator says radio interference may have been behind a drone's strange behaviour in the south of the Island.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch carried out a record-only investigation of an incident, which happened on Tuesday, November 26 last year.

A drone near Earystane sounded a proximity alert before its data link was lost and it flew out of sight of its pilot and a safety spotter.

It was set to return home automatically but failed to do so: the AAIB says a nearby telecommunication tower may have caused signal interference.
