Government figures show the number of taxis you can flag down on the Island has dropped by almost 28 per cent in the last two decades.
Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas asked a question for written reply to Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Clare Barber about the number of cabs on the Island.
Figures show in 2004 there were 208 ply-for-hire taxis, but last year that had fallen to 150.
By contrast, the number of private hire operators had risen from 62 to 84 over the same period.
