    Eduation boss hopes for smoother times ahead

    It’s hoped no more difficult decisions will have to be made concerning education provision on the Island.

    That’s according to the Department of Education and Children which has been one of the most severely hit in the last year and a half.

    Last week it was announced that students will have to start contributing towards their university tuition fees in another cost cutting exercise.

    That comes after the removal of French lessons in primary schools and shifting the Family Library and pre-school facilities to the private and voluntary sector.

    Director of education Martin Barrow says he’s hopeful it may be a smoother ride from here:
