Coastguards and lifeboat volunteers were called out twice last night after people spotted emergency distress flares.
The first incident happened in Port Erin at around 7.15pm when someone reported seeing a red flare off the Island's west coast.
A search lasting two and a half hours, however, failed to find anything.
At 8.30pm, Douglas Coastguards received a similar call about a white flare in Douglas Bay but a search failed to turn up anyone in distress.
