A Ballaugh man who hurled racial abuse at a man with two young children has been fined £500.
Mark James Taylor of The Curraghs admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words when he appeared at Douglas courthouse this week.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes heard he'd terrified the two young children when he yelled the abuse at the man on Christian Street in Ramsey on Friday, November 3.
She said unlike in the UK, the Isle of Man has no legislation to impose heavier penalties for racially-charged offences and she so couldn't treat Taylor's language as an aggravating factor.
The 35 year old was fined £500 and ordered to pay costs of £50.
