The public are being warned that they will face a fine of upto £1000 if they don’t complete and return their census forms next month.
Census day is the 27th March and
interviewers will start delivering them on the 14th March.
The main purpose of the census is to give a definitive
population count for the Island.
It also reveals more about the structure of that population,
in terms of the age group, and what occupations people are working in.
The organisers have said it’s highly important that the
public fill in and return their forms, as without a 100% return rate the
study could fail.
The public are reassured that there are penalties also for the
officials conducting the study of an unlimited fine and time in prison, if they
misuse the information in any way.
