The Island's Fire service was called out last night to tackle a blaze on Groudle Headline.
The gorse fire started at around 8.45pm just below the railway - which wasn't damaged in the incident.
The service has since revealed it took more than 25,000 litres of water and 5 hours of effort to extinguish the blaze.
In a post on social media, Groudle Glen Railway says 'it's extremely grateful for the swift action of our Emergency Services.'
It adds - the source of the blaze is unknown, but it is a timely reminder of the dangers of lighting fires and barbecues in such areas.
