The first sighting of a basking shark for this season has been logged on the Manx Basking Shark Watch website.

It was predicted that the gentle giants would begin to appear around this time with the recent good weather speeding up proceedings slightly.

The shark was spotted just off Niarbyl last weekend.

Boat owners and jet skiers are reminded to exercise caution and common sense if you see any of the sharks with the potential of a major fine if you injure one through reckless boat driving.
