King scallops are getting a Christmas holiday - after the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture announced a temporary shutdown for the fishery.
The king scallop fishery will close until Thursday, January 4 on the advice of the Isle of Man Scallop Management Board.
The organisation recommended the closure to safeguard stocks.
Minister Geoffrey Boot MHK says it's vital to protect scallops given their economic importance to the Isle of Man.
