Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood says concentrating work on specific accident blackspots is outdated, and was abandoned by the Isle of Man and the UK around 20 years ago.
During this week's House of Keys sitting, she faced questions from Glenfaba and Peel MHK Tim Crookall about work on crash blackspots in the past five years.
Dr Haywood explained that approach had been replaced by an overarching road network safety plan.
