There are currently 89,519 untaxed vehicles on the Island.
That's out of a total of 167,716 registered vehicles which are on the books.
The figure was given by the Department of Infrastructure in response to a Freedom of Information request.
However, it explains the number includes vehicles which have been untaxed for many years and may no longer be on the Island.
