Future Tynwald members to contribute to pensions

It was deemed in Tynwald yesterday that future members elected into the House will have to contribute to their pensions.

Those currently sitting will be able to contribute 3% of their own volition, with this able to raise in increments over the next 2 years.

Education and Children Minister Peter Karran had wanted to make an amendment to the contribution rate, which would have seen it increased, however this failed to garner enough support.

The payments will now only be compulsory to those entering Tynwald after April 1st.
