Chief Minster Alf Cannan says the government's considering selling off some of its assets to try to save tens of millions of pounds.
He was asked a question for written response by Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas about the total value of assets owned.
Mr Cannan said at present, there was £1.8 billion in property, equipment, vehicles and investments.
But he said some of that would be sold as the government tries to save £50 million over the next five years.
