The Manx government's coming under the pressure to extend the 'Swim For Free' scheme island-wide.

Castletown MHK, Jason Moorhouse is pressing for extra funding to allow regional pools to do the same.

It comes after the education department announced children will be allowed to swim for free after school at the National Sports Centre in Douglas this winter.

The five-month scheme begins on 31 October as part of efforts to help families with the rising cost of living.

There are four public swimming pools on the island- Douglas, Castletown, Peel and Ramsey.

It's reported that some other areas are now looking for funding to offer the scheme regionally.
