The Department of Health and Social Care pays £63,000 to train a nurse - but doesn't require them to stay on the Island to work afterwards.
In Tynwald this week, DHSC Minister Lawrie Hooper faced questions about training costs.
He revealed a nursing course on the Island through the University of Chester costs £21,000 a year, with courses lasting three years.
And he added all trainees live on the Island:
