In the last ten minutes Liberal Vannin leader, Peter Karran, has withdrawn his nomination for the role of Chief Minister and subsequently reversed his decision.
Liberal Vannin member Kate Beecroft nominated Peter Karran although on numerous occasions was accused of going off on tangents during her nomination speech.
Ayre MHK Eddie Teare nominated Allan Bell for the position with newcomer Laurence Skelly seconding the nomination.
Earlier in the proceedings Beecroft asked if the ballot could do away with the secrecy element so the house would know who had voted for whom.
This motion was not carried.
It’s expected an outcome will be reached soon and the Isle of Man will have its new Chief Minister.
