Chief Minister to Chair Independent Panel Looking Into Election Candidate Funding
The Chief Minister Tony Brown has announced there will be an independent review of the funding of election candidates in the Isle of Man.
It will be the existing rules and transparency of the funding process that will come under scrutiny.
The issue came into sharp focus recently during Kevin Woodford’s Douglas East by-election campaign when it emerged a trust had been set up by anonymous donors.
A three-person panel will review the matter, chaired by the Chief Minister himself.
The findings of the review will be brought before the Governance Committee in early September.
