Inflation falls to 2.8 per cent

New government figures say inflation fell slightly last month.

Data from the Cabinet Office says at the end of October, the Consumer Prices Index fell to 2.8 per cent, down 0.1 per cent on September.

Food and alcohol were the biggest drivers of inflation - both rose by 5.6 per cent.

But there was better news for heating, with a 13 per cent fall for oil and other fuels and an eight per cent drop in gas.
