Noble's Hospital says it takes any complaint of potential misconduct "very seriously" after explicit pictures of one of its doctors surfaced online.
It follows stories in the Daily Mail and The Sun over the weekend about 55-year-old Leendert Verstraten.
The articles allege that the locum orthopaedic surgeon sent images of himself, and explicit messages, to a dominatrix whilst at work.
One of the photographs appears to show the doctor wearing Noble's Hospital scrubs with black marker pen daubed over his stomach.
The Department of Health and Social Care says it won't comment on employment matters in relation to individual employees but will investigate matters "in accordance with its procedures".
