The Island of Man has seen a 43 per cent plunge in the number of babies being born on the Island in the last 12 years.
Paul Craine, author of the Isle of Man Population Atlas, has been collecting statistics on the Island's births and deaths.
He says in 2010, 1,023 births were recorded here - but last year that figure was just 609.
Paul says most developing countries are seeing declining birth rates, but described the Isle of Man's drop as "extreme".
