New equality laws being discussed by the House of Keys have narrowly avoided being sent to a committee for consideration.
East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw asked for the three-strong committee to look into the Equality Bill.
In particular he was concerned about the way the new legislation sets out how people can claim they've been discriminated against.
The House of Keys, sitting in committee, voted against the potential delay.
Mr Robertshaw said he wasn't against equality, simply concerned about the way the law was worded:
