Isle of Man honours VJ Day

The Island will be holding tributes today to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan day.

Douglas Council will be hosting a ceremony at Hilary Park at 10.15am this morning and will be led by the mayor's chaplain. 

Another service will be held just before 12pm at the Island’s National War Memorial in St John’s, where Chief Minister Alfred Cannan will take part in the national silence and lay a wreath in remembrance, 

As a further tribute, the Tower of Refuge, Legislative Buildings and the Ramsey Swing Bridge will also be lit up in tribute this evening.
