Kirk Michael crossing scheme delayed to next week

Work to improve pavements and crossings in Kirk Michael has been pushed back to next week.

The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed the project will now get underway from next Monday (March 1) and will start at a slower pace because of the recent lengthening of delivery lead times by manufacturers of some special order materials.

Highway Services says this has been caused by the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on manufacturing and distribution networks in the UK.

The initiative will see new footpaths and two zebra crossings created, whilst 40mph buffer zones will be placed on the eastern and southern approaches to the town with the aim of increasing safety for those in the area and travelling through it.
