The chairman of the Agricultural Benevolent Trust says lessons can be learned ahead of next winter.
Graham Crowe confirmed the trust is now distributing funds to farmers worst affected by the record snowfall earlier this year.
The group currently oversees an account of around £150,000.
This winter and early spring saw the worst snowfall since the 1960s, which led to many farmers losing hundreds of livestock and being unable to work.
