Marown Commissioners say a threatening letter to householders isn't from them - and has been handed to police.
At the weekend, the local authority said a letter was pushed through letterboxes in Glen Vine and Ballagarey.
Signed on behalf of the "Glen Vine Estate", it claims people will be billed for repairs to paths and fences after storms if they don't get them done quickly enough.
Marown Commissioners say they have nothing to do with the letter, and police have been informed.
