Port Erin lifeboat spent just over half an hour searching for a missing person last night.
The crew was called out by Belfast Coastguard shortly before 9pm last night after a report of a missing person in Port Erin Bay.
RNLI volunteers searched the bay with police and coastguard officers, until the alert was called off at around 9.30pm.
Lifeboat officials say the call was made in good faith, and people should dial 999 or 112 if they think they see anybody in difficulties.
