Port St Mary lifeboat crew went to the aid of a boat after it suffered engine failure at the weekend.
The incident happened just after 4.30pm on Saturday when the five-metre vessel with three people on board reported it was in trouble two miles from Scarlett.
The RNLI crew found the vessel in thick sea mist using radar.
They towed the boat safely back to port, and nobody was injured in the incident.
The rescue was the first for Jane-Ann Thompson after she qualified as a crew member.
