    Local authorities to work with allowance overhaul over next year

    Further guidelines are to be issued over plans to overhaul how much local authority members get paid.

    A new rates system is being proposed that would see a £12.50 per hour day time rate with a £50 cap.

    Night time sessions will remain capped at £30, with an hourly rate of £7.50.

    Douglas Council leader David Christian says it's high time that members should be realistically recompensated for the time they devote to their duties.
