Log burner warning following fire service callout

People with wood burning stoves are being urged to keep them clean, after a fire callout in Peel on Thursday.

Crews from Peel were called out to reports of a smoke-logged property after its occupant called emergency services.

Their Carbon monoxide alarm had gone off  - which alerted them to smoke inside their property.

When crews arrived, the Incident Commander quickly dispatched a breathing apparatus team who ascertained the cause of the smoke was due to a fault with their log burner.

The fire service says if you have a wood burning stove or a solid fuel burning appliance to make sure it is swept regularly, at least twice a year if you are burning wood.
