Lord Street cinema and flats plans withdrawn

Plans for a 14-storey development in Douglas city centre have been withdrawn.

Wyyttavin Ltd had applied for permission to build 85 apartments, a multiscreen cinema, offices, shops and a bus information centre on the Lord Street Car Park.

The plans were widely discussed when they were announced and were set to receive cash from the Department for Enterprise's Island Infrastructure Scheme.

However, yesterday the company withdrew its planning application.
