A Douglas shoplifter will be sentenced next month after he admitted stealing a coat worth more than £1,100.
Jonathan Edward Myers of Princes Avenue in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to one count of theft at Flannels in the Strand Centre in Douglas on August 13.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing shop staff recognised Myers because he was on the Shopwatch list of banned shoplifters.
He was challenged as he left the store, and workers found he had a Canadian Goose coat worth £1,150 – he’d removed the security tags, slightly damaging it.
Police arrested him but he said he couldn’t remember the incident until officers showed him CCTV of it.
Mr Brooks bailed him in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn’t enter the Strand Centre, and he’s next due to appear for sentencing on December 13.
