A man from Port Soderick has been fined over £2,000 for cutting down trees illegally.
He got rid of several mature lime trees at the Port-e-Chee Meadow without getting permission from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
The trees were registered under the Tree Preservation Act of 1993 - due to their significant value.
People have been warned that the illegal felling of trees will not be tolerated and have been encouraged to check with the department before carrying out such work.
