Man told to 'wise up' after being caught with cannabis

A Douglas man has been told he needs to 'wise up' and stop using cannabis after being caught with the drug.

23-year-old Luke Michael Callister, of Lheannagh Park, was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

Police stopped Callister at the Milestone Garage in Douglas on July 21st after noticing a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle he was in.

They found £16 worth of the Class B substance in a glass jar - Callister later admitted an offence of possession.

During sentencing his advocate told the court he needed to make 'better choices' adding: "He knows he is risking a lot for such little gain."

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered Callister to carry out 50 hours of community service and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £50 - the drug will be destroyed.
