Man who resisted arrest banned from Island

They arrested him in Ramsey - officers were forced to use PAVA spray to incapacitate the man who they say 'actively resisted' arrest. 

 

They'd stopped him as he left a pub in Parliament Street as they believed he was carrying drugs. 

 

At a following court appearance the man admitted the offence and was sentenced to four months in prison - on his release he will be banned from the Island for five years. 

 

Police say it was 'unfortunate' that such a display of aggression was shown and have thanked a passer-by who assisted officers during the struggle.
