A man who has been involved in a classic motorsport race on the Island for 65 years has passed away.
Des Evans raced in the Southern 100 between 1959 and 1967, before becoming a travelling marshal in 1971 until 2002.
He then swapped the bike saddle for a stewards seat in 2003 and stayed involved until 2022.
Officials at the Southern 100 say he was always smiling and cheerful and his presence at Billown will be sorely missed by the vacuum left.
