Work to replace engine components on the Manannan will get underway this evening.
It comes following the vessel running on just three engines over the weekend after the fourth failed.
As a result, crossings between the Island and Liverpool have been taking longer than usual.
The works are expected to begin overnight, leaving the vessel on reduced power for its round trip today and tomorrow.
