Manx General Election praised by international observers

International observers have described the Isle of Man general election as 'orderly, efficient and innovative.'

The process was assessed by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, who decided the right to vote on the Island is inclusive, as well as the right to stand as a candidate.

However, they concluded more effort is needed to ensure the electoral process is consistent across the Island, and accessible to people with disabilities.

The Election Observation Mission have proposed ten recommendations to improve the electoral system on the Island, and praised the innovation in Douglas South, where an online register was successfully trialled.
