Manx Teen Avoids Jail in Landmark Case

Lonan Man Gets Suspended Sentence for Falsely Unveiling Bulger Killer

Island teenager Wayne Dale yesterday escaped prison in a case that attracted press from across the UK.

Wayne was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years for an offence of provoking behaviour – he used the social networking site facebook to publish false details about the local whereabouts of one of James Bulger’s killers.

The court heard how, although now reformed, Dale has had a long standing drug problem, especially with plant food and cocaine, he claimed he couldn’t remember a thing when it came to posting the message.

For an additional charge of theft he received a month sentence which also was suspended for 2 years.

For the theft charge he was also ordered to pay £900 compensation and £75 in costs.
