Manx Utilities has applied for permission to store hazardous waste at a former civic amenity site in Douglas.
The organization has applied for permission to use the Middle River site which was left empty when the amenity site moved last year.
Manx Utilities says it would store road material containing road tar as well as other hazardous waste in sealed skips while disposal can be arranged.
If the application is approved, the site would also be used to store vehicles and machinery.
