    Measures in place to avoid ash disease

    Precautionary measures are being taken against a disease which has the potential to kill thousands of trees on the Island.

    Ash dieback has been discovered in the UK and Ireland recently, with concern that it could spread to the Isle of Man.

    Symptoms of the disease, which is caused by a fungus, include lesions and scarring of the bark

    The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says if it were to present itself here it could devastate around a quarter of hedgerow trees.
