Mental Health Service set to join DoH

Next month’s sitting of Tynwald could potentially see the transfer of the Mental Health Service from Social Care to the Department of Health.

A proposal for the radical change has come about following a major review of the Mental Health Service.

The Council of Ministers concluded that the MHS would be better placed in the Department of Health as mental and physical health should not be separated.

In terms of any impact on the public, if the Order is approved by Tynwald, services will continue as they do at present.
