    Menzies could lay off a fifth of workforce

    A ground handling company which operates at Ronaldsway Airport says it could lay off a fifth of its workforce.

    In an interview, John Menzies company secretary John Geddes says the company is already consulting about 1,200 job losses in the wake of coronavirus and the collapse of airline Flybe.

    John Menzies provides ground handling services at the Island's airport.

    Its figures for the first six months of this year showed it made a pre-tax loss of £80.1m as passenger flight volumes across Britain fell by 43 per cent.
