Should the Island's rates system be scrapped because it's not fit for purpose?
That's the issue Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper is due to raise during Tynwald's July sitting.
He's put forward a motion asking for changes so people would pay rates based on their property's actual value instead of rateable value.
And because valuing every Island property would be expensive for government to do, he wants Treasury to bring proposals to Tynwald by next March for a self-declaration system.
