Minister gives update on capsule endoscopies

There's currently not enough qualified staff for carrying out capsule endoscopies on Island.

That's according to Health Minister, David Ashford MHK, in response to a question about the procedure in the House of Keys this week.

Mr Ashford says the services are suspended as there's only one consultant based at Noble's Hospital able to analyse results of any of the tests despite the department spending 'many years' looking to bring on another.

Capsule endoscopies involve swallowing a capsule the size of a large vitamin pill which takes pictures inside the body and is used to assist diagnosing gastrointestinal conditions.
