Education, sport and culture minister Graham Cregeen says social media is detrimental to young people on the Island.
In Tynwald this week he was asked by Rushen MHK Juan Watterson how young people are being educated in the dangers of social media, and the identification of fake news.
In response, Mr Watterson says fake news is addressed in lessons such as English and media studies, and pupils are taught about the implications of technology in ICT.
Mr Cregeen also confirmed his department is looking into a BBC app that examines fake news.
