Minister's resignation not accepted over document leak

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney has apologised for leaking confidential papers from the Council of Ministers to a constituent.

Details of the leak emerged during the Social Affairs Policy Committee hearing into Pre-school provision.

Campaigners Amy Burns and Lisa Morris, who are against the closure of government pre-schools, presented the private papers as they gave their evidence.

Mr Cretney says he had handed over the document in confidence.

The Minister offered his resignation over the matter, but it wasn't accepted.

HE says deeply regrets his actions but stands by his original good intentions.
