Three Manx fishing sites will be closed to bottom trawling from next week to protect marine habitats.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says the areas in the Western Irish Sea Mud Belt off the West coast contains range of species, including langoustines.
It had been described as one of the most physically disturbed sites after years of trawling.
DEFA says it hopes to develop the fishery after the Isle of Man was given a 100-tonne quota for langoustines this year.
