A memorial to a local historical heroine has opened at Noble's Hospital.
The sculpture, called 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness,' celebrates the work of Nelly Brennan during the cholera epidemic in the 1830s.
She's remembered for visiting patients in their homes, making sure they were washed and fed, and was later appointed the first Matron of the hospital.
The project, designed by local artist Niamh Kelly and funded by Culture Vannin, was unveiled by Health Minister Lawrie Hooper.
Government paid grant for fishing boat used in drug smuggling plot
