Government has issued a reminder as the new year approaches, with changes to regulations set to come into force.
It comes as part of the Climate Change Act, with pre-used oil and gas boilers to be refused by Building Control.
Instead, plans for new buildings must feature low carbon heating systems, such as air source heat pumps, electric boilers and solar thermal.
